“Kim has been very understanding and supportive throughout our journey. She is easy to talk to, understands idiosyncrasies and strives to be truly neuroaffirming. Following our son’s school-induced autistic burnout, Kim has helped us enormously in supporting us through our EHCP restructure and setting a personal budget. We are now at the beginning of our journey towards EOTAS. Kim’s knowledge is leaps and bounds ahead of all the professionals who have been involved in my son’s care since his original autism diagnosis over 7 years ago. Kim understands that there is no one way to meet a child’s needs. Most importantly, Kim has the experience and compassion to sympathise with parents who are trying their best to advocate for their children. It’s been refreshing to finally speak to a professional who understands. We’re very grateful.”

“Kim is by far the most intuitive, well-informed and open-minded professional to have worked with my daughter (who is now 17). My daughter has seen mental health professionals since she was 5, and none came close to having the rapport or understanding which Kim has. Kim took my concerns as a parent seriously, listened attentively and collaborated with myself and my daughter to explore what her issues were. Her sense of humour was invaluable at times, and through close observation, reaching out to my daughter's teachers and working with me to contact professionals internationally, she was able to secure an appointment for my daughter to be assessed for Autism Spectrum Disorder. My daughter was subsequently diagnosed at the Lorna Wing Centre, who praised Kim's thorough and detailed assessment. Kim then helped us to put support in place. She's fantastic!”

“Kim started working with our son when he was in Year 1. Everyone in his class was reading and he could not read beyond CVC words. His confidence suffered and it made learning in all other subjects very difficult. After a month of working regularly with Kim, he started to find learning so much more enjoyable because Kim tailored her intervention carefully to ensure he overcame both his learning difficulties as well as his mental blocks. She has a talent for recognizing and applying the most efficient and effective ways to unlock a child’s potential as evidenced by my son’s improvement in learning within a short timespan. It also constantly amazes me how Kim can engage and make my son learn new concepts interactively through Skype. Most of their sessions can last between 1-2 hours and Kim keeps him engaged and motivated throughout. She also effectively engages us, as parents, in his learning by providing meaningful feedback after each session and how we can help our son between sessions. Her insights about how our son learns has also been an eye opener for us. This has proven to be very helpful as there is consistency between home, school and learning support resulting in a better understanding for all parties as to how to unlock our son’s potential in all aspects of his learning and development. Most impressively though is Kim’s dedication to each of her student, she invests herself always and wholeheartedly.”

“Kim was a great help to our family in identifying early that my son might require some additional support at school. She then worked with me, the school and the external provider to make sure we all played our part to get the best outcome for my son. Kim is very knowledgeable in her field and her kind and empathetic personality takes a lot of the stress out of what can be an overwhelming situation for families living abroad.”

Marina, Parent, Chile

“We arrived to Shanghai the year 2014, from Chile, therefore my child did not know a word of English. Besides that, he had had some very bad experiences in Chile with a teacher so he was afraid of new environments. It must have been the year 2015 when Kim suddenly appeared in our lives. With her everlasting smile through which I could see ”that everything was going to be ok” not only did she help my son with all the difficulties he had at school. She became part of our lives and helped us become stronger. She was always there when I needed to talk, and she had a patience I have never ever seen. My son, who at the beginning was totally afraid to be with one teacher in a room, ended up loving learning because of this amazing woman. I can say that because of her, my son developed the skills he needed to survive the first years in Shanghai, and also because of her, I could be the backup my son needed, because I felt, for the first time, that someone was backing me up in this process as well, and that was Kim. I will never forget how hard she worked for us. Nor will I forget the passion she put into her work. I will always be thankful that I met her. She was a true Angel on our way.”

“Miss Humphrey’s was my son’s year two teacher. When arriving in her class in Year 2 he was struggling in reading, writing and confidence. As soon as he was in her class she had picked up on Riley showing signs of dyslexia. We had a meeting with her, obviously it’s not nice hearing your child has learning difficulties, but she made us feel so at ease, it was like talking to a friend. One month into her teaching Riley and already she had got the ball rolling with having Riley tested for Irlen’s syndrome and we learned that he needed a green overlay. Straight away she ordered these for him and was using them in all his books. She helped suggesting memory cards and other ways to support him. She made Riley feel very secure and with her great knowledge and understanding Riley become more confident in reading and writing. Before he left her class and made the big step into Junior school she had meetings with his next school to make them aware of all his needs and helped them to carry on with the best help that she had given him. We will never forget what a wonderful, kind, knowledgeable and friendly teacher she was to Riley and without her great teaching we wouldn’t have been able to help Riley go on to do as well as he is doing today in Year 7. Great teacher, great person - we can’t thank her enough.”

“Before our son started working with Kim he was having a lot of trouble in class with some social interactions and communicating his feelings to the point where we were very worried he would be asked to no longer attend school. Kim helped him to have a voice and to give him a place where he felt comfortable to talk through his frustrations. He learned valuable tools with Kim to help him through transitional periods and tough situations. Now, Kai is a confident, happy, and well-loved student in his class and it all started turning around with Kim’s understanding and belief in him.”
